Ghost Gun Recovered After South Jersey Citizen's Tip

A tip from a citizen led to the arrest of a South Jersey man carrying a loaded "ghost gun," authorities said.

At 4:54 p.m. Thuesday, Sergeant Charles Stuart and Detective Darrin Lorady of the Special Investigations Section found  Alexander Boynes walking in the 1500 block of Caspian Avenue, Atlantic City police said.

Detective Alberto Valles had received information that Boynes was in possession of a handgun, police said.

After being stopped by the detectives, Boynes was found with a loaded ghost gun was in his waistband, police said. The gun contained an extended magazine, they said.

Ghost guns are firearms that can be bought online and assembled at home. They do not contain serial numbers and are untraceable.

Boynes, 23, of Ventnor City was charged with unlawful possession of a ghost gun, possession of prohibited ammunition and possession of a high capacity magazine, police said.

Boynes was being held at the Atlantic County Justice Facility.
